We’ve been receiving a lot of questions from our community on how to choose a License Producer, or LP for short. It’s really important to understand the differences between an LP and the different strains they offer. The team at Women’s Cannabis Clinic sat down and wrote this article to help make your decision process a little easier.
The first step in the medical cannabis journey is getting your medical marijuana prescription. When you are in the process of obtaining a medical marijuana prescription, it is very important to choose a Licensed Producer that will suit your needs and can provide you with the medication that will help treat your symptoms. Though there are a wide variety of producers to choose from, not all of them carry the same products or have the same advantages to being a patient with them. Below are the next steps and some of the important things to consider when choosing the right medical marijuana Licensed Producer for you.
When choosing a licensed producer, you want to make sure that you are choosing one that has the correct products available to you. You will want to make sure that they have the correct strains for your condition, as well as the appropriate forms available to you as well. Currently, medical marijuana can be sold in both an edible oil form and dried cannabis. Some Licensed Producers do have other products available (i.e. capsules) which may also be a good option for patients who do not wish to smoke their cannabis.
In Canada, medical marijuana can cost anywhere between $3.50-$15 per gram. However, most is in the $8-$12.50 range. Many licensed producers offer programs for those who make under $30,000 per year or on a government assistance program to help mitigate some of the cost for the patient. Many patients qualify for these programs but are unaware that they exist.
Many Licensed Producers offer free shipping on orders over a certain number of grams per order, but not all of them do. Much of the extra cost associated with medical marijuana comes from the shipping costs. To avoid these extra costs, it is important to ensure that your Licensed Producer is one that offers free shipping.
Many Licensed Producers will only accept credit card payments for your orders. If you need an alternative method of payment so that you can pay for your medication, you will need check with the Client Services Department at the Licensed Producer that you wish to register with in order to determine if they will accept an alternate form of payment (i.e. Interact E-Transfer, Direct Deposit, Paypal, etc.)
